Polycystic Kidney Disease And Your Persian Cat

Cats are beautiful animals and they take their place next to dogs. The cat health of a Persian sees some health problems that require some specific knowledge. Persian cats have some genetic problems that are prone to happen to any cat of this breed.

A Little History on the Persian Cat
Persian cats have beautiful long silky hair and their long hairs float everywhere they visit, including your lap. In the sixteenth century, Persian cats walked the roads in Turkey and some other areas. Some people believe that the longhaired Persian is a mutation of the shorthaired Persian from Egypt. Some believed that the difference in hair length was triggered by the cool weather conditions.

Make Up Of a Persian Cat
The Persian cat has a short tail that extends outward with thick bones and a round body. The eyes of a Persian are beautiful and big while the ears are small and appear too small for their heads. They have a flat nose similar to a Pekinese dog breed. The mild temperament and easygoing disposition makes the Persian an idea cat for everyone.

Susceptible To Polycystic Kidney Disease
The Persian cat is often susceptible to polycystic kidney disease, which affects the kidneys's and generally are common from birth. Although these cats do not show signs until the age of six and up, the Persian cat has the cysts that grow as they grow and age causing the kidney to become enlarged. The prognosis is kidney failure, which will result in death for the cat. This cat health problemneeds to have immediate attention to take care of any future problems. Some Signs Your Persian Has Kidney Disease
Persians have a need to use the litter box more frequently and have a strong need for water. The cat will more than likely sleep more than usual and may be a bit depressed and finicky about eating, which will lead to body weight loss. In some instances, the liver and the uterus sometimes is affected with the growth and spread of the cysts.

Getting Care for Your Sick Persian Cat
Because the Persian cat is normally born with the generic make up causing it to be prone to polycystic kidney disease, your vet may prescribe a drug to help with anemia that occurs after the spread of the cysts. The cats diet has to change to eliminate phosphorous and protein in the diet, which will cause more problems for your ailing Persian. In some cases, the vet will recommend a phosphate binder, which you add to the food or water supply.

Scientists believe that the disease is caused by a dominate gene and requires finding the potential carrier of this gene and eliminating the potential for further reproduction of the carrier. Vets can determine if the Persian kittens have the cysts at an early age to prevent reproduction of the cat that has the dominate gene. An ultra sound will provide a scan of the kitten's kidneys and determine if the Persian kitten requires immediate sterilization to prevent further breeding of cats with the gene.

Your Fans Are Your Life-Blood, But…

Do you know who your fans are?
Many artists love the roar of the crowd. The more fans at a show, the better, right? It makes you feel good. It makes you look good to the venues. It helps sell merchandise. In fact, catering to your fans, and making yourself their best friend can boost your career like nothing else in the industry. But if you don't know your fans, you will never grow that audience, you will not build that reputation, and you will not sell merchandise.

Have you ever tried to offer a hamburger to a Vegan?
It didn't go over very well did it? In fact, they were probably very offended. So why do so many bands constantly do this to their audience? Are you offering your fans something they don't really want? Are you sure?
If you want to develop a bond with your newfound Vegan friend, you probably want to find out a lot more about them first. Then the embarrassing and sometimes bridge-burning moment of offering them a hamburger could be avoided. More so, in all likelihood you would be offering them something they really want instead, and putting a big smile on their face.
If you want to develop a bond with your newfound fans, you probably want to find out a lot more about them first. What is an” ideal fan”?
Let's take a moment to examine your ideal fan, that person (however real or make-believe) that you wish all your fans were like. Top marketing experts agree that to focus your efforts towards this sort of “super fan,” you will immediately attract the attention of every person that fits 70% of the ideal fan's description. Can you imagine how many fans you will have when you easily begin attracting everyone that fits 70% of your ideal fan's description? That's a LOT of people! Maybe you can't imagine that yet. And that's because you have yet to describe your ideal fan.
Often, our ideal fan is an extension of ourselves. Think about it… you are your #1 fan. Anyone else can claim to be your #1 fan, but when it comes down to it, no one is a fan of your band more than you are. So take a deep look at each of you in the band, and ask yourself what it would be like if you could combine all your likes, dislikes, interests, hobbies, and habits into one single, super human.

Describe your audience.
Take a few minutes to describe your ideal fan in writing. Don't fret; it can take some time to get used to examining your fans in this way. Think about who you want to surround yourself with. What are the types of people that you love to have backstage hanging out with you? Get specific. Get very specific. The more detailed you can describe your ideal fan, the easier it will be to find them and turn them from fans into fanatics.
What does a day in the life of your ideal fan look like? What's his or her name? How old is he? Does she go to school? High school, college, something else? What does he do during the day, from waking up to going to bed? Is she religious? An Atheist? What hobbies does he have? What about movies she likes? Books? TV shows? Video games? What type of work does he do? What other types of music does she listen to? What about specific bands? What are his friends like? Where does she like to hang out? What websites does he go to the most?
This person is your band's life-blood. They are the person that will buy every piece of merchandise you put out, listen to all your music, tell everyone they can about you, and ultimately put food on your table and give you a long-lasting career in music. Know them.

Why it's important.
If you want to sell a hamburger to a Vegan, you better make sure that it's a Vegetarian burger. If your fans are mostly high-school age, would you be getting college sponsorships for your shows? Why not make a good friend of a high-schooler, who will build your street team in the right place? Or how about a house party? What if ideal fans are college-age church-goers? And what avenues do you have for reaching them if they're middle-aged businessmen?
What about the coffee shop they like to hang out at? Or was it tea? Would that be a good place to promote your shows, or possibly sell your CD? How about the place most of them buy their clothes?
Shows, promotions, sales, image, sound, performance, you name it; Your marketing and direction will become very clear once you know who exactly it is that you're catering to, where to find them, and what they would like from you.

So now you have a bunch of Vegan high-schoolers having house parties that the police have to shut down because there are way too many people and way too much noise. Isn't it great?!
If you know your fans well, you will be offering them things they want to buy from you. You will be giving them exactly the music and story they want and expect to hear from you. You will be making friends, and gaining a following, instead of the left-overs from the band that played before you. People will fall in love with you. You will be experiencing what many bands never get to experience… a clear, well-informed knowing of who your audience is and what you have to offer them. Most of all, you will have a whole lot of friends, who all want to reciprocate what you've done for them. That beats just having nameless fans, any day.

What are Persian Cats

The Persian cat is for sure one of the most popular and oldest breed of cats in the world. Cat lovers love to keep Persian cats. Persian cats are called the Longhair or Persian Longhair in the United Kingdom. They are available in a variety of colors and are extremely cute and loveable.

In the year 1620, the first ancestors of the Persian cats were brought from Persia to Italy. They were imported by Pietro della Valle. They were brought to France from Turkey by Nicholas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc almost during the same period. It was from France that they reached to England.

Persian Cats have extremely long thick coats. They have short legs, wide heads with the ears set far apart. Their eyes are big, bright and mostly gooey. If you own a Persian cat, you need to cleanse it eyes frequently, at least twice a day. They can have any color or markings including pointed, golden, tortoiseshell, blue, and tabby. Their tipped types are called Chinchilla and Point types are called as Himalayan in the United States of America and Color point Persian in European regions.

Persian cats are gentle, and loving. They seek the love of their owners and their special attention. If you are planning to bring a Persian cat in your home, you need to get it vaccinated at 8 weeks, then for two successive months and after that, once on yearly basis. To maintain the health of you Persian cat, you need to provide it with a clean environment so as to avoid harmful bacteria.
Your Persian cat also needs regular bath although it hates water, but you need to be patient. Use towel and dry it and comb its hair slowly; you can also use a hair dryer in case if the weather is cold. Clean its eyes, ears and claws with wet cotton wool and brush your cat's teeth as well. Your Persian cats need four times as much protein compared to a dog. The best food for it is Persian commercial cat food which is easily available in stores. Your Persian cat must be in good health if you wish to play with it for hours.

Calico Cats - Tricolor Beauties

Calico cats are very easy to spot. Their colorful coat of three colors is hard to miss. Some people believe that calico is a cat breed. Others think it is a color. However, calico refers to a unique tricolor pattern. A nondiluted calico has mostly white, which is the predominant color, with distinct patches of orange (or red) and black. Some cats will have chocolate instead of black, but this is quite rare.
By contrast, a diluted calico will have a coat of white, cream, blue (sort of like a bluish gray) or cinnamon. The washed out colors are caused by the dilution gene.

But what causes this unique pattern? It's all about genetics. More specifically, the answer lies in the chromosome X, which contains the code responsible for fur coloring in cats. The Y chromosome, by contrast, contains no information associated with color. Now, a set of two X chromosomes are required to produce a calico. Male cats have a set of XY while female cats have a set of XX, so most calicos happen to be female. Though rare, you will find male calicos, which for the most part happen to be sterile.

Interestingly, many people confuse calicos with tortoiseshell cats. At first glance, they may look similar, but upon closer examination they're quite different. The main difference being that tortoiseshell cats have very little or no white fur. Some people confuse the two because some tortoiseshells display more white hair than usual, but this hair is mostly mixed in with the other colors. By the way, the two other colors are also blended. Calicos, on the other hand, have three distinct patches of color, white being the most prominent.

Another interesting fact is that not all tricolor cats are calico cats, some cat breeds like the Himalayan and Javanase have coats with tricolor points but these are not considered to be true calicos.
